Jay-Z Live @ Palladium with DJ AM and 12-Piece Band in Los Angeles

The Palladium, a 68 year old theater on Sunset Boulevard will re-open its doors to none other than Jay-Z.  The Palladium has been shut down since April of 2007 for major renovations.  According to Live Nation officials, “The renovation covers the entire interior and exterior of the venue, with a new dance floor, a new façade replicating the original architecture and other changes made in keeping with the building’s original look (latimes).”  Jay’s opening night performance is reminiscent of Frank Sinatra’s opening performance at the iconic venue nearly 70 years ago.  Jay’s performance will be backed by a 12-piece band and yours truly will be there, hopefully with a camera in hand to give our readers a glimpse into what the night will be like.

Jay-Z: “I’m honoured to play such an iconic venue. Just as Frank ushered in a golden era, I hope this opening will mark the beginning of a resurgence in generation-defining live music…”

Also, USAToday is reporting that DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) will be making a return behind the wheels of steel for the first time since the plane crash (Sept. 19th).

Tickets appear to be selling for $150 each to as high as $200 on eBay; not bad considering the venue caps out at 4,000 and there are rumors of guest appearances such as Kanye West floating around.

As an aside: This will also be my last concert in LA before my move to NYC!

Review: Freeway & Jake One – The Stimulus Package

The Roc-A-Fella creed during the early 2000’s was simple: dominate the game. Like Wu-Tang and No Limit before them, the leader(s) of the pack were easily distinguishable. But at the end of the day, it was always a team sport. Jay-Z, the MVP and future all-star, was accompanied by a roster of talented role players [...]
