Brother Ali’s Truth Is Here EP is good for you

I just purchased this album.  For a very long time, Brother Ali has been one of my favorite emcees and I firmly believe he’s one of the best emcees to ever rock a mic.  If you’ve ever seen his live show, you know his passion oozes from the speakers to the crowd swelling you up with something best described as “love.”  Love for the art of rap and love for the feeling one derives from rocking a set cold.  He’s a conscious individual, aware of his surroundings and macro-influences.  Deep down, he’s a poet and musician that can flip from telling stories with emotion to battle rapping with rigor (see Brother Ali battle Sage Francis).

A few weeks ago, I broke down the lyrics and attempted to analyze a live A Capella performance Brother Ali rocked off of The Truth Is Here EP.  The song for those that missed it, is a metaphor wrapped in a narrative, wrapped in commentary and delivered through verse.  Shake dropped a track titled “Real As Can Be” off of the latest EP for those that need a little incentive.

The Truth Is Here EP can be purchased pretty much anywhere.  I got it on Amazon because I happen to be a Prime member and I still believe in having hard copies of records from the digital downloads (call me old fashioned).

Below are a couple of music videos from his prior releases:

Brother Ali – Uncle Sam Goddamn

Brother Ali – Forrest Whitiker

Jake One – The Truth feat. Brother Ali and Freeway

Sage Francis vs. Brother Ali (Skribble Jam 2000)

That was a really thoughtful and kind review of my EP. I really appreciate it.
