A new remix contest on Kevin Nottingham, sounds like fun!
Read what Kevin got to say about it:
Here we go… another new weekly remix contest! We’ve been doing these for a while now. Our first remix contest we concentrated on New York Hip Hop, then we kept it scrictly 90s. Most recently we remixed Nas’ classic Illmatic for Trav Williams’ new album IllTravis. Now I want you all to go in on another classic — Jay-Z’s The Blueprint. The idea for these weekly remix contest all started when we were collecting the American Gangster remix albums about a year and a half ago. It all started with Jay… so I’m taking it back this time. Tons of people have remixed American Gangster and The Black Album, however not too many people have touched Jay’s 2001 classic, The Blueprint. Is it because it’s as close to a perfect album as one can get? Not sure. The production on this album is flawless, in my opinion, so this contest will prove to be tough. In the same sense as our Illmatic Beat Contest, we will be using the original samples from The Blueprint to remix the songs. So this is similar to that contest in a sense. The one difference is that we’re gonna give you the acapella and you’ll have to lay that down on top. Now that we’ve gotten the introduction out of the way, hit the jump for contest details and this week’s tracks.
