Ruslan feat. Blame One & Braille “Domesticated” produced by Exile cuts by Shortop (Video)

This is a sick track.  Down to earth hip-hop music from Ruslan, Blame One and Braille, produced by Exile!  I can definitely relate (or will be able to relate one day).  On another note, yours truly is moving out of NYC and back to LA! Epic “Forever” Remix feat. Ahmir, Traphik, DymeaDuzin, Dumbfoundead, PrinceEa, DPryde (Video)

It’s not often you see Asian emcees and think, “that was pretty dope.”  Not to hate on Asian emcees because Jin had some decent punchlines here and there but typically, it’s hard to spot.  But when I do, I like to give them shine (to the 500 people that read OGHH), because well, dope is »

Bob Dylan is Hip-Hop: A look at his influences, collaborations and parallels

RollingStone takes a peek into Bob Dylan’s influences on Hip-Hop culture broadly.  It probably goes a bit too far to even suggest he is a Godfather of Hip-Hop with their headline: “Is Bob Dylan Hip-Hop’s Godfather? His Ties to Beasties, Roots, More” but they do catalog some interesting ties.  Not only that, but Bob Dylan »

Modern Bboy – the next step? (video)

This has to be one of the better uses of bboying in choreographed dance. I am not sure how I feel about them dancing to classical instruments; the presentation is definitely interesting but a break boy rocks to a break so definitely a departure from the tradition (not always bad). That being said, »

Vincent Van Gogh sampled sh** too!

“Noon At Rest” (pictured above) is one of my favorite Vincent Van Gogh paintings of all time, if not one of my favorite art pieces.  It is meant to resemble the true meaning of happiness, a man with his wife, relaxing mid-day after a hard bout of work in the fields.  Work, leisure, companionship, accomplishment, »

Aaaaaand we’re back!

Due to stupidity on my part and frustrating service on their part, OGHH was temporarily suspended over the weekend.  We are now back and i full effect.  Sorry for the inconvenience that this may have caused our 5,000 readers (yayyy!). We should not be facing down time again for at least another year (as that’s how »

OGHH Throwback: Interview with Brother Ali (2004)

Another throwback interview from our TheOG.net days! I dug this one up because Brother Ali just dropped Us, and from what I’ve heard about the album, and from what I’ve heard of the album, it’s solid. I won’t be able to bump it for another 2 days (I actually bought this one) and I suggest people pick it up; Brother Ali has not failed me with a release yet. Now, I’d like to return to the classics…
